The Sterling by Music Man series was conceived and built for players looking for an authentic Musicman tone but with a limited budget.
The build quality and finish are just great and the sound is remarkable close to the original bass.
We love the ash body and roasted maple neck and fingerboard. This roasting process eliminates all the unwanted damp from the wood, making for a much more stable neck as well as looking just great.
A single humbucker pickup is located at the traditional "sweet spot". You get 3 modes that can be selected via the 3 way switch: Parallel (classic Music Man sound), Series (thicker and hotter, perfect for rock) as well as Single Coil. If that's not enough you also get a 3 band onboard EQ that will allow you to get a lot of different sounds.
The low B is pretty amazing in this particular bass. Incredible for this price, actually.
This is the RAY 35 model and we can safely state that no other bass in this price range comes as close to the original Stingray 5 bass as this one. The low B is surprisingly good in this price range too.
