This is an absolutely incredible Steinberger XP2 Headless Bass with the famous early EMG passive pickups. These New York models are the only true Steinberger models with the later models made by Gibson in Nashville being far inferior.
The "N" in the serial number shows that it is one of the earliest production models as it was made in Newburgh (New York). Later models were made in Nashville and these would start "TN"). We believe this model is likely a 1984.
XP series were made with bolt-on graphite necks, wooden bodies and passive EMG pickups
The sustain and sound quality on this bass is incredible. Classic Steinberger growl but with a slightly smoother sound.
These earlier models made in the New York factory are the most sought after and have a very distinct sound quality due to totally different build quality. If ever there was an opportunity to "own the 80's".....this is it! No other instrument captures the essence of the 1980's better than this.
It comes with a non original pickguard, padded Rockbag bag, spare strings (new and old), adjustment hex keys and an adaptor for using standard strings.
