This is the most traditional model that comes out of the F Bass shop in Ontario, Canada. We just love the basses that luthier George Furlanetto creates.
The VF model is obviously basses on a classic bass from the 70's but has some modern appointments that make it irresistible.
The idea is to go for that classic 70's sound, so a piece of mid weight ash is used for the body. A 1 piece maple neck with maple board is boltd to the body and of course two real Single Coil pickups are placed in 70's location. Couple that with traditional Volume, Volume, Tone, and you have a most familar sound that will fit into just about any band and style easily.
Improvements over the classic bass start with an unrestricted access up to the 21st fret. Next is F Bass' trademark 3 band active preamp (boost only), which must be one of the most musical and quiet preamps ever. The taper neck is also surprisingly comfortable. A narrow 44m nut is combined with standard 19mm spacing at the bridge, creating a bass that feels instantly familiar from the beginning. We are impressed. And then of course, being a 5 string you will want a great low B, and that's exactly what we have here.
To sum up, one of the best basses in its class, period. Classic looks, classic tone, ultra comfortable, and really punchy if needed. It is addictive!
