We've always loved the sober and clean design of the Hellwood model. The name is cool too as it comes from the Elwood model (Jazz Bass) but with a twist. All black matt finish with matching headstock, black hardware and some appointments in padouk such as the fingerboard and the pickup covers.

It comes with a 21 fret neck and in this case a great set of pickups in PJ arrangement handmade by German guru Larry Häussel as well as an active-passive Toneformer 2 band EQ with Passive tone.

Smart, powerful, comfortable and lightweight. Oh yes, and the low B is just phenomenal. What's not to like?

Maruszczyk Hellwood 5a

Maruszczyk is one of the brands that we've been dealers for in Spain for longer time. We've always loved these instruments and it is great to see that they do not just sit on their laurels but keep improving and growing. Every year we get a lot of new Maruszczyk basses and it is great to see that the quality and number of options just keep adding but the price tag remains incredibly affordable.

We've sold more than 200 of these fantastic basses both in Spain and abroad so we are really knowledgeable about these instruments. We always keep a minimum stock of 20 of them in our showroom in Burgos, Spain. All of these are perfectly setup by us and ready to be shipped to you no matter where you are on this planet. We can also handle your order when you use the Configurator (great tool to design your dream bass or at least get a clear idea of what it will look like). We'll guide you through the process and we'll help you avoid mistakes.

Adrian Maruszczyk is a professional bassplayer and a true visionary when it comes to bass design. The headquarters of this brand are in Aldenhoven, Germany.

Maruszczyk's moto is "From Player to Player" and it basically means that they are bassplayers who really understand what bassplayers need and can react to those needs really fast. Just check Public Peace's Youtube channel and you'll find Adrian himself doing most of the demos of his basses. We love this personal approach.

The basses are built in a small factory in Poland and Adrian Maruszczyk is really on top of the whole production system. For him it is simple: "if my name is on the bass, it has to be good".

We really believe that these are the best European made basses for the price.

What other brands call "Custom Shop", "Custom Built", "Masterbuilt", etc., means just standard at Maruszczyk basses. This means you won't be charged extra money just because a particular component of piece of wood is a bit different. You just pay what you get for. We love this honest approach.

Also each bass is made to order, meaning they are actually all Custom Shop Basses. No standard series here or batches of dozens of similar instruments. In short: these are Custom Shop basses at Standard series pricing.
