This is a standard alder body with rosewood fingerboard.
The neck is maple with the brand's signature 10/90 System (10% carbon with 90% of wood).
This system uses about 90% of the neck's mass in maple and 10% in rigid yet flexible carbon.
This 10/90 neck system, with maple sandwiched between the carbon, is very durable and resilient to changes in temperature, humidity, and other factors.
The solid construction with no truss rod in it allows the neck to combine strength and excellent sustain without losing the density of the neck itself, and also contributes to tuning stability.
It also contributes to tuning stability. The density of the sound also gives the instrument a different response and sound than a typical instrument with a truss rod.
Of course the most unique single spec on this bass is the amazing metal fretless fingergoard, inspired by the Indian sarod, a fretless instrument with metal fingerboard.
Only a few of these instruments were made before Patrice Vigier closed his shop down recently. This means that apart from a beautiful instrument that plays and sounds great, it's also a true collector's item.
It's actually a joy to play this bass thanks to the fingerboard and the sound is just great. Clean and precise but also quite warm, which is a bit surprising. Really inspiring.
The pickups are Viger's original humbucking size single type.
It is equipped with a circuit that eliminates the hum noise characteristic of single type pickups and produces a clean sound.
Standard controls are volume, balance, bass, and treble.
The pegs are made by Schaller, and the bridge is of the massy type with a quick release function.
