This is NOT your average Jazz Bass. It is a superb instrument made in 1985 at the famous Fuji-Gen factory in Japan.
Fender started building reissue basses early on. This one is actually a 1975 Jazz Bass reissue made only 10 years after. For many players some of the best Fender Jazz Basses were made in 1975. There's something about those instruments that makes them just perfect.
The combination of ash for the body and maple neck and fingerboard is a perfect platform for a solid tone with just the right amount of bite. The Tone control on this bass is incredibly useful and offers lots of sonic variation. We really dig these 3 positions:
- Wide open: great all round Jazz Bass sound with a slightly pronounced upper midrange to cut through in any mix. Add a touch of bass from your amp and you get a KILLER slap sound
- Tone set at 2: sweet Jazz Bass sound that's perfect for just about any bassline.
- Fully closed: dark yet defined growl. Excellent for a Jaco tone using the bridge pickup. Perfect reggae sound using the neck pickup or both.
The whole control cavtiy has been copper shielded and all the wiring is Mogami so you get perfect noiseless performance.
Obviously this is a used bass (it was made in 1985!) but it only shows minor wear. Condition is excellent.
This is a heavy bass so we recommend adding a wide comfortable strap if you plan to use it live. It is absolutely perfect for the studio as it sits on your lap beautifully and is really well balanced. This bass sounds amazing, believe us.
