The Electra Series by Sandberg comes to fill a gap in the market, offering incredibly sounding basses that are well built and play effortlessly with an unbelievable price tag.
There are three extremely classic models in this series as the idea was to offer true working bassplayers tools they can use from day one for any gig or recording. All of them can work in Passive or Active mode, are lightweight and play really well becuase they have been assembled and tested at the Sandberg factory in Germany.
Features like the "zero fret" (a German tradition) are used. This gets rid of annoying tuning problems that plague some basses that come with a poorly cut nut. This also has the advantage of offering a more consistent sound from open to fretted notes.
This is the TT4 model and as you can see it is based on a Jazz bass. With the EQ set flat you get that trademark midrangey sound that's also deep. Boost the EQ and you still get a recognizable P Bass type of sound but one that will just cut through a wall of guitars easily as well as being slighly mid scooped.
Use the Active-Passive switch according to your band, repertoire or even room acoustics. Of course you can also switch from passive to Active to get a completely different sound from one song to the next. Cool!
To sum up: a lightweight and easy to play bass that offers two distinct great sounds and has an unbelievable price tag.
