This wholly striking bass takes the highly reputable Ibanez SR formula up a notch, with dazzling aesthetics, calculated design and world-class Bartolini pickups.
The Body & Neck
The SR series basses are known for their highly ergonomic body shapes, and the SR870 is no exception. This means a slim, curved design with a generous archtop & deep double cutaways that'll be comfortable to play, whatever the circumstance! Ibanez have opted for a mahogany body, ensuring a rich mid-range response with plenty of warm low end to boot. Top it off with a walnut and flamed maple top & stunning autumnal finish, and you have an instrument that truly stands out from the crowd.
The five-piece jatoba and walnut neck features an extended joint allowing excellent upper fret access. Jatoba also makes an appearance as the fretboard wood of choice, offering 24 frets and wonderfully smooth playability.
Electronics & Hardware
The SR870 is dual-loaded with Bartolini BH-2 pickups in the bridge and neck positions. Known for being incredibly responsive and crystal-clear, you'll be amazed at the sound that's drawn from the rich wood combination of this instrument.
As well as this, you get Ibanez's Custom Electronics 3-band EQ for added tweakability. As well as this, you get a 3-way mid frequency switch, giving you get more tonal sweet spots to play with. It's all topped off with the Accu-cast B500 bridge, designed to maximise both tuning stability and resonance.
