This is a new bass from luthier Imanol Egilegor who is based in Okamika, Vizcaya.
We've been selling Egilegor basses for some time and we are happy to report that these basses are better than ever.
This model is the Biadar (meaning double cutaway) 5 string and 24 frets and in this case the body is made from swamp ash and there's a matching headstock. The neck is a made of padauk as well as the fingerboard. There are side dot inlays and these will glow in the dark. Really cool! We love the shape and the cool color.
Regarding electronics, Imanol builds his own pickups in house and the truth is they sound terrific. In this case there are three coils housed in a ramp. The one next to the bridge is a traditional Single coil but with a Split Coil design. Next we have a Single Coil but in this case with larger magnets and this is also Split Coil. Finally the neck unit is a dual coil desing and again in a Split Coil arrangement. There is a Volume pot for each pickup so there are multiple options regarding combinations. All Volume Pots are Push-Pull and are used to select Parallel or Series modes. Now, that's versatile.
But wait, there's more: electronics are Aguilar OBP-3 so you get excellent performance, low noise and 3 band EQ with 400/800Hz midrange selection (push-pull mid control). There's also a Passive tone (again Push-Pull for Active-Passive operation) that works both in Passive and Active so there's plenty of possibilities on tap here.
