This bass is named Forty Eight and it is the latest model to come out of the Sandberg shop in Germany. It is based on a classic design but it features some modern appointments and improvements that make it a winner.
First of all, it is a very lightweight bass but neck diving is not an issue. If you've ever tried a similarly shaped famous classic bass, you'll know that neck diving is an issue.
Of course this instrument warranties a very strong stage presence but that's just the start. All the parts and workmanship are really good, from wood selection to construction, hardware, electronics and finish. We love it. The High Gloss Black finish with matching headstock and two cream accent lines is just gorgeous.
Apart from the poweful looks, the guys at Sandberg had in mind an instrument that would play effortlessly and that it had a very powerful tone. In passive mode the neck pickup sounds really warm and full. Add the bridge pickup to the mix and you get a very different tone that's more open and slightly hollow. The bridge pickup sounds fuller than usual, and that's something we just love. This is possible because under the chrome covers there is a Split pickup at the neck and a Humbucker at the bridge, and that is a winning combination. Of course there's a quality 2 band EQ on board too in case you need to add edge or punch.
En resumen, un bajo con una fuerte presencia de escenario, una enorme comodidad y una paleta de sonidos de primera realmente impresionante.
To sum up: this is a bass that not only looks great on stage. It also delivers a monster tone and plays like butter.
