About Warwick's GPS (German Pro Series) instruments:
Germany (May 5, 2015) -- As of this summer Warwick now offers the all new German Pro Series which consists of excellent "Teambuilt & Made in Germany" instruments, at an affordable price. The complete know-how, which the Warwick Custom Shop has built up over 30 years in Markneukirchen embodies this exciting new series of electric basses. All of these instruments are produced in Germany from the finest materials and with the best possible production methods. Only the very best machines in the world are used to carve these extraordinaire bass guitars.
The development of the Warwick German Pro Series goes back to the year 2009, at that time the decision was made to produce only the Masterbuilt Custom Shop basses at the Markneukirchen production facility, But now - due to popular demand, after almost two years of planning and development, a regional partner has been found to realize in cooperation with Warwick the new German Pro Series. The result is the highest quality Pro Seres basses to date, and at a price which offers players the possibility to own a 100% genuine German built Warwick bass for far less than the Masterbuilt Custom Shop instruments.
The tone woods for the German Pro Series are naturally air dried, hand selected, and glued at Warwick in Markneukirchen, also the necks, and the complete fret work is manufactured there too. Then all instruments are finished and assembled by partner nearby in the region. After completion, all Warwick German Pro Series instruments are carefully inspected, flawlessly set up and shipped out from the Markneukirchen production facility.
The Streamer CV is a new take on the brand's successful Streamer model. Sort of old meets new. The whole idea behind this model was to produce a bass that would sound, look and feel like a vintage bass but with modern features and Warwick's attention to detail. In order to achieve that goal, Warwick have used a 2 piece swamp ash body, bolt on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and passive pickups.
The flamed maple neck is really solid and stable and it has the classic Warwick oil finish which makes it a joy to play. The rosewood fingerboard is just perfect and is also a pleasure for your fingers.
Warwick's frets in the GPS series are made from Silver nickel, an alloy that has proved to be great in terms of sound and longevity.
Sustain in this bass seems to be endless indeed. This is also thanks to the great tailpiece/bridge combination which allows the strings to have the perfect break angle at the bridge. Of course you can adjust the bridge in all directions: overall and individual height, intonation, string spacing, etc.
Small details such as pickup height adjustment have been redisgned and improved using metal inserts for the screws in the body of the bass meaning you can set the correct pickup height effortlessly. Cool.
Of course there's a two way truss rod so you can tweak the neck yo suit your climate and/or playing style. The truss rod can be accessed easily.
Also electronics are easily serviced. No tool is needed to access the battery which by the way is found inside an ultra clean electronics area. Just use your fingernails fo open the rear electronics plate. Cool. Conductive paint is used thoughout and just the right amount of wire and top notch parts. We love it.
Warwick's trademark headstock is also ergonomic. All tuners are placed for the player to reach them easily. The adjustable nut (a classic feature from Warwick) is the final touch on a perfectly designed bass.
German made MEC electronics are used. The term here would be ultra quiet and effective. You get a 2 band PASSIVE preamp with controls for Volume, Balance, Bass and Treble. Of course being 100% passive, the EQ has a softer effect on the sound of the instrument, but that's intentional. The whole idea here is to keep the sound as vintage as possible. The Treble pot acts in a very similar way to a standard Tone pot while the Bass control is really subtle but enough to make a small difference and add a tiny bit of roundness to the sound.
Two passive MEC Alnico V pickups in JJ arrangement are used and they produce just some of the best bass tones you'll ever need. Electronics are PASSIVE yet you get Bass and Treble controls. We love that and it really works. When you add some passive EQ you get that extra punch and bright that are needed for a true late 70's J sound. We love it!
This is a perfect bass for those seeking a traditional sound but need a bass that is easy to adjust, ergonomic and plays like a dream. Perfect balance between modern manufacturing and traditional tone. Great!
This instrument comes with a Premium Line RockBag gigbag plus all the tools you need to set up the bass as well as straplocks.
