This is a cool 8 string bass with 4 normal and 4 octave strings.

Fingerstyle it sounds just like a 4 string bass with an extra resonance. With a pick the octave string really comes to life and allows you to play some really cool lines. Great for power trios if the bass needs to fill up the sound when the guitarist takes a solo. Of course it is also great for folk-world-experimental music.
