It is always a pleasure ordering a new Fodera for the shop. Sitting in front of a blank paper to choose a model and its specs is really exciting.

In this case we wanted a really lightweight 5 string bass that would be a real workhorse so we chose the use of a lightweight piece of ash for the body as well as semihollow construction. This is actually the lightest Fodera Emperor 5 that we've ever had at the shop.

In terms of sound we wanted it to be as versatile as possible and we think we have succeeded. Use it in Single Coil mode and you get an amazing Jazz Bass tone thanks in part to the ash body and maple fingerboard with the same type of attack as a Bolt on. Slap is just insane in this bass.

Switch to humbucker mode and it is like getting a new bass, with sounds that go from Musicman-type to warmer-darker character. The range of available sounds is simple amazing. Any technique you want to play, this bass will deliver!

We went for a 19mm spacing at the bridge as we feel this is the most comfortable spec for standard playing.

The ramp is great for Garrison-Wiilis technique, but you can remove it if you don't need it. The low B is loud and clear and access up the 24th fret is a breeze. To sum up, the most versatile Fodera we've ever had.
