Status Graphite are true pionners in the use of graphite for musical instruments, having started as early as the 80's. Combined with the headless design (they also make headed basses now) and custom made pickups and electronics, they helped shape the sound of the electric bass forever.
This is an S-2 Classic model and it features some of the specs that have made Status basses some of the most desired in the last 30 years:
- Neck stability. Graphite is far more stable than any type of wood. There's a 2 way truss rod so you can set it up to suit your playing style, but once you do it, it will just stay there.
- Tuning stability: tune it and forget about it. The bridge-tuner combo is far more precise than headstock machineheads. Also it won't move when you put the bass into its case.- Lack of dead spots. If you own a traditional bass, especially a vintage instrument, you know what we are talking about. Those dreaded dead spots can really ruin a great bassline when the fundamental frequency of some notes (usually C to E at the G string) will just vanish as soon as you hit the note. Can't think of something less cool than loosing the bottom end of a bass note. Graphite mives that to a spot where the human ear cannot hear it. Neat!
The two Status humbuckers and Status 3 band preamp with sweepable mids deliver a powerful and absolutely noise free sound that is as clean as it gets.
