We've been attending the Musikmesse in Frankfurt for years. This gives us the opportunity of cheking all the new stuff first hand and also get to know new luthiers that will exhibit there. Some of these come and go but some other keep having a booth at the Fair as they have new instruments and improvements every year. This is the case with Fibenare, a small family driven company that make excellent basses and guitars. We've been wanting to have some of those instruments at the shop for a while and this is the first we get and we are really excited about it.
This model is called Globebass and as you can see it features a full poplar burl body (not just the top but the full body). Wow!
Excellent neck thru body construction for maximum sustain and stability (the Singlecut design helps in both departments) with a 5 piece flamed maple-padouk neck.
We love the cocobolo fingerboard. It looks beautiful and is also an excellent choice for the fingerboard as it will stand the test of time better than softer woods.
Fibenare make their own pickups and electronics in house. This allows them to control the whole process instead of having to rely on 3rd party companies.
In passive mode you get Volume and Balance as well as two 3 way pickup mode switches to selec Single Coil-Parallel-Series. The array of excellent tones you get is more than enough to cover any style of music you can think of.
Single Coil mode is based on traditional sounds with plenty of midrange.
Parallel sounds a bit rounder, mid-scooped and slightly brighter.
Series mode is beefier and also darker.
Then there's an excellent and musical 3 band EQ that makes the bass sound a bit more poweful and modern if that's what you need.
To sum up: a high end handmade bass that plays, looks and sounds like a dream.
