We are really excited to have this new Fodera here. We are big fans of Tom Kennedy as a player. He's been using Fodera instruments for years and helped develop the Emperor Standard 5 (whch he's been using on the road since it came out). There's also a Tom Kennedy Signature emperor within the Custom Signature basses, but he wanted to release a more affordale version that would allow more players buy it and both him and Fodera took this chance to develop a new instrument with some really interesting appointments.
It is the first Single Cut bass with a bolt on neck. The reason is that Mike wanted to get back some of the attack and familiar tone you only get from traditional bolt on basses. The result is a bass that combines that traditional punch and attack with the comfort and feel of a Singlecut instrument. Neat.!
The combination of black hardware, hidden pole pieces on the pickups and an Ebony Fingerboard provide a sleek, clean look to this beautiful instrument. Aside from the obvious difference of utilizing Bolt-On construction, another variation from Tom’s original signature bass is the use of more traditional 70’s pickup spacing for some added tonal flexibility. We believe the result of this project is a bass that combines the functionality and affordability of our standard instruments with the highly sought after aesthetics of our Single-Cut custom models.
