This bass will take you to the 60's decade straight away.
The man behind the Italia brand of retro inspired instruments is award winning Trevor Wilkinson, responible for some of today's best innovations in guitar designs.
When Wilkinson sat to design a new series of instruments he took inspiration from those classic "second line" instruments from the 60's with funky looks. The original instruments are considered super cool today, but chances are you'll hardly be able to play them because they have aged badly (and were ppor instruments anyway). Wilkinson thought about this and came with a full line of bass and guitars closely based on classic designs, so now you can get the looks and also great performance. Great price too!!
This model has been named Mondial, and it is more versatile than it might look at first glance.
The Agatis body has been hollowed out which, coupled with the "acoustic-glass" top give this instrument a natural semi acoustic voice.
The big sized humbucker has plenty of beef and lows, but does not get muddy as in some vintage instruments.
The Höfner type bridge houses a piezo system which comes out of the bass via its own output jack, so you can get a great pseudo-stereo performance using 2 amps or 2 channels in a desk.
The 34" scale means this bass has more definition than some vintage short scale basses.
To sum up: a very special bass with a unique voice, and strong stage presence. You won't pass unnoticed with the Italia Mondial.
