Xavier Lorita is a luthier based in Barcelona (Cataluña-Spain). In 2015 he has started a one man business but has been working full time as a bass luthier for around 15 years now. He started working for a famous luthier and cut his teeth there learning the ins and outs of this beautiful job. After some recent moves he has established on his own and is now 100% concentrated on developing a full line of handmade basses that carry his name "Lorita".

As you could expect, all this experience is obvious as soon as you play the first few notes on these basses. Xavi has paid a lot of attention to wood selection, construction, finish as well as hardware and electronic selection. These basses may be new in town but you can feel he's been playing this game for a while.

There are several basic models that can be used as a starting point to have your dream bass built for you. Of course at Doctorbass.net we always have a number of Lorita basses in stock for immediate delivery but if they are not your cup of tea or if you have a different idea about the specs just drop us a line at info@doctorbass.net and we'll be happy to discuss the details for a custom order with you and will guide you through the process.

This model is named Element and as you can see in the picture it is an entirely original design. The body shape is not only nice to look at; ergonomics come first. The long upper horn dramatically improves balance and reduces the possibility of head diving. The lower horn allows for unrestricted access up to the 24th fret and it makes for an excellent lap rest when you play seated with no strap.

This model sports a set of own made custom Lorita Split Coils. The sound is just about perfect: you get a clean and clear Single Coil sound but with no hum. Perfect! Switch in the active Glock 3 band preamp and you'll get a lot of control and possibilities.

The neck is fast and feels very familiar thanks to the 34" scale. And even though it is a 24 fret neck, the first fret falls easily within reach, which is not always the case in 24 fret basses. The fact that the nut is narrow and then string spacing is standard at the bridge makes this one of the most comfortable necks we've tried lately. Of course this is down to individual taste, but it seems like the perfect compromise for both left and right hands.

The clear satin polyurethane finish over flamed redwood is just perfect and will also stand the test of time. Of course if you prefer a different top you just have to contact us and we'll be happy to get you a bass that suits you.
