Godin's A series of instruments have been in the market for many years. This is the most recent version and includes a lot of upgrades. The chambered maple body with spruce top is the perfect platform for Godin's successful "plugged in acoustic sound", and we can assure it really sounds acoustic when plugged in, more so than any normal acoustic bass with a pickup. RMC saddles capture the sound of the flatwound D'Addario strings perfectly, and act as MIDI pickups too. There's an internal MIDI convertor, with a 13 pin DIN output next to the standard 1/4" jack for the acoustic sound. This particular model includes a practical thumb rest over the 4th string at the body. The 13 pin DIN output can be connected to any Roland or Axon Guitar Synth, as well as Roland's Vritual devices (V Bass, VB-99, VG-99, etc.) Even if you only use the piezo system, this is an amazing bass. The onboard 3 band EQ is powerful enough to take you from a realistic upright sound to an almost electric type of sound with a lot of midrange. This is the ULTRA model, meaning it adds a magnetic Lace Sensor pickup and passive Tone, so if you need a real electric sound here you have it. The low B is surprisingly lound and clear.
