This is the Monarch model in 5 string format. This is the first bass model that Fodera developed back in 1983 and is also the bass model that Victor Wooten uses. Actually, when we ordered this particular custom bass our idea was to get as close to Victor's own bass but in a 5 string instrument.

The Monarch model offers exceptional balance and ergonomics, unrestricted access up to the 24th fret and the perfect blend of sustain and attack as well as allowing for ridiculously low action.

Also amazing is the tremendous dynamic range that this bass boosts. The subtliest change in dynamics or position in your right hand will make a dramatic impact in the tone. Not many basses are able of this.

Sure, this bass delivers all the sounds and nuances you'd expect from a bass bass that's based on Victor Wooten's style, but the good news is that just about any music style will benefit from a bass with this sound and pureness of tone. Even traditional jazz sounds just fine. You can go from a monster slap tone to a delicate tapping sound (where every single note sounds full and clear) and then get a perfect Jaco sound just using the pickup blend and the Passive Tone Control. Amazing.

To make it even more versatile, we ordered this bass with two handmade brass nuts: one for standard BEADG tuning and another one for EADGC tenor tuning. This will allow you to use the bass in different projects without the need of ordering a different bass or having to take it to a luthier. Just put the proper strings and nut, adjust the intonation slightly at the bridge and you will be good to go.

These active EMG pickps have humbucker housings but are actually PJ inside so you get the same type of tone as Victor Wooten.

We always say that a better bass won't make you a better player in 5 minutes, but actually when you own a bass that's so easy to play, rewarding and inspiring, you end up practicing more than ever, and that really makes you a better player.

Pricewise a Fodera is always quite an investment but let us share our thougths about this: these are the best basses in the world. Nobody makes them better, and they've been perfecting them over the last 30 years. No experiments or mistakes here. Just think of much you've spent on mid range basses over last years and be honest to yourself: did you own a bass that was really inspiring and made you a better player? Buy a Fodera, stop wasting money and start enjoying and impriving from the first day.
