PRS is one of the few brands out there that can be called a true classic. It was started back in 1985 by luthier and guitarrist Paul Reed Smith. Even though their main thing has always been guitar, they have released basses on and off since the beginning. From the 3 pickup instrument that Michael Manring used back in the 80's to the more modern take in 2000 (bolt on, High Inductance Single Coil pickups) and the custom made Gary Grainger Private Stock bass. In 2013 they realized there was a market for a US made PRS bass so they released the Core series, closely based on Grainger's bass but more affordable.

Also based on the success of their off shore SE series guitars, they have now released two bass models within the SE line.

This bass is called Kingfisher and it boasts a 24 fret set neck, powerful humbuckers and passive electronics, with special appointments such as the classic PRS bird inlays on the fingerboard. The sound is powerful and clear. Enough to cut through a wall of guitars and drums, but also delicate enough for solo work.
